Barbara Bryan Heard

Barbara Bryan Heard, 92, of Belle Meade, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at The Residences of Greenwood. Born on January 5, 1934, in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Eddie Brooks Bryan, Sr. and Helen Thompson Bryan.

A 1952 graduate of Greenwood High School and a 1954 graduate of the Greenwood College of Commerce, Barbara retired in April 2001 from the Greenwood County Department of Social Services, where she served as business manager. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Greenwood and the Carpenter Sunday School Class, where she faithfully served on many committees and participated in the church’s NGO Club. She was also an active member of the Greenwood Women’s Club and several bridge clubs.

She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Charles W. “Bill” Heard; a son, Stan (Becky) Heard of McCormick; a daughter, Susan (Tracy) King of Charlotte; and four grandchildren, Trent (Alex Slota) King, Brooks King, Daniel Lagroon, and Becca L. (Blake) Beauford. She was predeceased by a brother, Eddie Brooks “Sonny” Bryan, and two sisters, Anne Collins and June Scott Nettles.

A private graveside service will be held at Greenwood Memorial Gardens, with a Celebration of Life to be held at First Baptist Church at a later date.
