She was born January 2nd, 1936, in Wilson, North Carolina, to Arthur Clyde and Flossie Askew Batts.Barbara worked for many years alongside her husband and sons at Batts Truck and Trailer Parts. She was an avid music lover with diverse tastes. She especially enjoyed listening to music with her sons and had a particular affinity for gospel.She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 64 years, James; son Jimmy; brother A.C.
