Havre de Grace, MD
Barbara Ann Taylor, born on June 18, 1939, in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026, at the age of 86. She spent her final months surrounded by the love of her family in her daughter’s home. Barbara was known for her warmth and generosity, expressing her love through delicious baked goods and home-cooked meals that brought comfort and joy to those around her.
A longtime resident of Havre de Grace, Maryland, Barbara shared more than 50 years with her loving husband, Wayne. She cherished life in the historic town by the water, often visiting the lighthouse and browsing the local shops, especially Bomboy’s to satisfy her sweet tooth. She held a deep love for animals, enjoying horseback riding in her youth and later rescuing several handicapped cats, giving them devoted care and a loving home. She grew up playing softball with her brothers and for the local church, and in later years enjoyed watching ball games with Wayne, along with game shows such as The Price is Right and Let’s Make a Deal. On Sundays, she worshiped through her favorite television pastors and reading scripture.
Barbara possessed a joyful spirit and a natural gift for making others laugh. Her family will long cherish stories of her comical phrases and the thoughtful ways she showed her love, calling and writing to loved ones near and far, never missing a holiday or birthday card. Each Christmas she spent hours in the kitchen baking specific cookies to fulfill every child’s and grandchild’s request. Her laughter and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her devoted husband, William Taylor; her sister-in-law, Cindy Parks; her daughter, Virginia “Jeni” Brendle (Brian); her sons, Charles J. Young, Jr. (Ki), David Young (Linda), and William Young (Bonnie); grandchildren Charles II, Janina, Christy, Toni, Alycia, Kenny, Amanda, Samantha, Dennis, William, Tyler, Skyler, Kerstin, Natasha, Sasha, and Rachel; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Barbara was preceded in death by her father, Walter Charles Parks, her mother, Virginia Ruth Neil Shearer, and her brothers, Ronald Parks and Marshall Parks. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
