Barbara Ann Petty
October 21, 1944— March 8, 2026
San Antonio, TX
Barbara Ann Petty, a fourth-generation native Texan, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026, at the age of 81 after a long battle with dementia and Parkinson’s disease. Born on October 21, 1944, in San Antonio to Ruth and Roscoe Canion, Barbara excelled in her studies, graduating from Alamo Heights High School before earning her degree in education from Southwest Texas in just three years.
Shortly after graduation, she married the love of her life, Lawrence “Larry” Tuck Petty, and the two shared a devoted marriage that spanned six decades. Barbara lived a full and joyful life filled with the things she cherished most: music, fashion, movies, and sports. A dedicated Spurs fan who also enjoyed cheering for the Cowboys, she took special delight in watching her grandsons play soccer. She had a lifelong love of dogs, particularly Airedale Terriers, and traveled extensively across the United States and around the world with her close circle of friends.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Petty; her daughter, Wendy (Erich) Rahn; and her grandsons, Tyler and Gunnar Rahn. Barbara’s kindness, wisdom, love of life, and generous spirit touched everyone who knew her, and she will be remembered with deep affection by all whose lives she brightened.
