Preserve forever →Barbara Ann Elliott
September 20, 1948— March 14, 2026
Monticello, IN
Barbara Ann Elliott (Ledford) of Monticello, IN passed away peacefully on March 14, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.
Barbara was born in Francesville, IN on September 20, 1948 to her loving parents, Bill and Minnie (Rater) Ledford. Raised on their farm in Francesville alongside her sisters Diana Burch, Debra Ezra, and Sandra Hornback, Barb developed an appreciation for the powers of gardening and hard work.
Barb treated life like a garden, and planted seeds in everyone she knew.
She is missed dearly by her husband of 56 years, Tom Elliott. The matriarch of her family, she raised 4 adoring children, Dean (Shannon) Gardiner, Kathleen Snell, Tom Elliott, and Tracy (Drew) Edgell. She lives on in the hearts, minds, and pantries of her grandchildren: Justin Gardiner, Séan Gardiner, McHale Gardiner, Kelsey Turner, Fran Gardiner, Christian Snell, Easton Edgell, Elvira Elliott, and Hudson Edgell; and her great grandchildren: Ariel Davis, Emma Gardiner, Liam Gardiner, Briggs Gardiner, and Crews Gardiner.
Barb worked tirelessly in the labors of her love. She was a treasured member of the Roosevelt Middle School community, and Twin Lakes’ resident cheerleader. She helped to cultivate generations of students across Monticello, and looked on proudly as they grew into the neighbors that she knew and loved. From her years in management at Pizza Hut, to her decades of sewing, canning, peanut butter eggs, and Friendship Bread- you never left Barb’s side without a full belly, hands, or heart.
And now, just as she lived, may she continue to bask in God’s bountiful harvest.
