March 30, 1942— March 9, 2026
Oconto, WI
Barbara Ann Carter, 83, of Oconto, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026. She was born on March 30, 1942, in Findlay, Ohio.
Barbara was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose greatest joy in life was her family. She was the proud mother of four children: Zina Howell, William Carter (Debbie), Michael Carter (Vicki), and Shelly Garcia. She was also a loving grandmother to Alyssa, Heidi, Miguel, Daniel, Marcus, Nathaniel, Matthew, Kristen, Sarah, and Maxine, and a cherished great-grandmother to many. Barbara also opened her heart to countless children who were not related by blood, but who lovingly called her “Grandma.”
She threw herself into the role of grandmother with pure joy. Her home was filled with warmth, laughter, and the comforting smell of something baking in the oven when the grandkids were over. She enjoyed sharing her love of baking with her grandchildren. Barbara loved cooking and was especially known for her baking. Her cookies, cakes, and banana nut bread were family favorites that will be remembered for years to come.
Barbara loved celebrating the holidays and made sure her home was always beautifully decorated for each one. She also enjoyed cheering on her favorite football teams, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Green Bay Packers. Her dedication to both teams was so strong that she even made custom shirts to represent each team when they faced off in the famous “Bay vs. Bay” game.
Above all else, Barbara’s love for her family was unwavering. Even though her family was spread across different places and busy with their own lives, she thought about them every single day and carried them close to her heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two grandsons she loved dearly Shane Carter and Christopher Carter.
Barbara leaves behind many friends and family members who will deeply miss her kindness, her laughter, and the love she so freely gave to everyone around her.
Per Barbara’s request, there will be no memorial service. Instead, those who knew and loved her are asked to take a quiet moment to remember the time they shared with her, and to think of her smile and laughter.
