Barbara Ann Bond Lupton, 90, of Roanoke, passed away on March 11, 2026. She was the daughter of the late Leonard and Ruth Crawford Bond. She was preceded in death by her sister, Billie Ruth Todd; brothers-in-law, John Earl Todd and Gary Howell Hackworth; a granddaughter, Melissa Ann Wertz; a son-in-law, David Journell; and her former husband, Edward Windell Lupton, Sr.
Born and raised in Norfolk County, Virginia, now known as Chesapeake, Barbara graduated from Deep Creek High School in 1954, where her classmates named her “most likely to succeed.” She worked in various roles throughout her life and retired from Kroger after 25 years as Deli Manager. A longtime member of Cave Spring Baptist Church, she was affectionately known as “Ms. Barbara” and faithfully served on the Social, Reception, and Kitchen Committees, where she maintained an efficient and spotless kitchen.
She is survived by her children, Eddie Lupton (Becca), Kim Journell, Angie Reynolds (Lisa), Melanie Wirt (Bobby), and Tracy Lupton (Hope); grandchildren, Ellen Reed, Michael Lupton (Ali), Sarah Nichols, and Austin Nichols; step-grandchildren, Billy Journell (Patricia) and Emily Journell; great-grandchildren, Carsten Reed, Emery Lupton, Rosie Lupton, and Andi Lupton; step-great-grandchildren, Preston, Amaya, Liam, Aly, and Natalie; her sister, Judy Hackworth; niece, Heather Taylor (Michael); nephews, Brian Hackworth and Jeremy Hackworth (Brittney); niece, Cheryl Todd; nephew, Kenny Todd (Jay); and many other loving family members and friends who will cherish her memory.
