Barbara Ann (Jaggers) Berney, 71, of Marion, Ohio, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026, at Riverside Methodist Hospital. She was born on November 2, 1954, in Mio, Michigan to Joseph E Berney, Jr. and Betty Lou Ellen Kear.
She had a creative soul and a gift for finding beauty in the smallest things, especially anything that sparkles. She loves making things pretty and spent countless hours enjoying arts and crafts of every kind. She expressed herself through writing songs, poetry, and proudly authored books. She was a talented piano player and had the privilege of playing at the weddings of her daughter, son, and granddaughter, and many others over the years. She was also a joyful member of the Red Hat Society , where she shared laughter and friendship.
Her faith was the center of her life. She was a devoted member of Word of Life Christian Center; faithfully attending Sunday School, Sunday morning and evening services, Wednesday night services, and Tuesday prayer meetings. She loved the Lord deeply and read her Bible every single day.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph E. Berney, Jr. and Betty Lou Ellen Kear; her stepfather Clifford Paul Kear; her beloved husbands Gordon R. Jaggers and Paul Knapp; and her sisters Mary Lou Ellen Hippensteel and Violet Adell Schieman, and her brother Joseph E. Berney III.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Joseph (Benita) Jaggers, Barbara (Jason) Mills, Brenda (Steve Belville) Cooper, Elizabeth Malone, AJ (Tony) Kitchen, Elaine Jaggers, Gordon (Amy) Jaggers, and Cher Reynoso.
She was a proud grandmother to Hannah (RJ) Barna, Hadessah Mills, Keylen Mills, Judith (Bryan) Patterson, Randy (Daphne) Brammer, Skip (Patty) Brammer, Tim (Ambrosia) Bentley, Craig Christman, Amanda (Dustin) Christman, Chris (Claudia) Lutz, Erick (Kellie) Olvera, Nathan Reynoso, Nick Reynoso, Brad (Melisa) Nichols, Carl Nichols, Shane (Nancy) Pittman, Logan Pittman, Jessie (John) Pittman, Michael Wilson, Elizabeth Hogston, Hannah Holston, Makalya Stapleton, Hayden (Carley) Jaggers, Brandon (Tory) Jaggers, Brandon Rowoda, and Abby Rowoda.
She is also survived by her beloved childhood friend, Sharon (Rick) Mills, and her best friend June Snare.
Her legacy continues on through her 33 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Word of Life Christian Center, located at 580 Silver Street Marion, Ohio 43302, on April 11, 2026 at 11:00 AM.
Her legacy of love and faith will live on in her family.
