Barbara A. Costa-Coholan

Barbara A. Costa-Coholan, 76, of New Bedford passed away at St. Luke's Hospital on Saturday, March 14, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late David Costa Jr. and the late Loretta (Somerday) Costa and loving wife to Thomas J. Coholan.

Barbara was a long time hairdresser, owning her own salon, Cuts-N-Curls for 10 years. She loved butterflies and flowers and spent many happy hours crafting and knitting. Barbara was well known for baking cookies for friends and family, always sharing her kindness through the treats she made with love. She also enjoyed occasional trips to the casino, where she liked playing the slot machines, often sharing laughs and good times with those around her.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas; daughter, Sandra J. Brown; son, Stephen J. Brown; grandchildren, Allison Simons, Tyler Boyer, Ryan Brown, Sean Griffiths, Brandon Griffiths, Andrew Brown; great grandchildren, Aubrey Simons, Briella Simons, Ava Simons, Jordyn Brown, Bryson Boyer; sister, Anne Krawetz; brothers, Michael Costa, Anthony Costa and several nieces and nephews. Barbara is preceded in death by her brother, David Costa III.

In accordance with her wishes, Barbara will be cremated.
