1946 — 2026

Leesburg, FL

Barbara A. Chabalko, 80, of Leesburg, Florida, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on January 26, 1946, in Hazleton, Pennsylvania, to Frank and Lois (née Runyon) Mondik, she lived a life centered on her family and her faith.

Barbara shared 43 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, John. She was a devoted mother to Amanda Hoffmaster of Shavertown, Pennsylvania; Heather Smith of Leesburg, Florida; Matthew Chabalko of Salinas, California; and Andrew (Katya) Chabalko of Hopatcong, New Jersey. She was a proud grandmother to Megan Hoffmaster, Michael Hoffmaster, Cecelia Chabalko, Stella Chabalko, and Jackson Chabalko, and a cherished great-grandmother to Joshua, Jacob, Amari, Lily, Oliver, Emilia, and Kinsley. She is also survived by her siblings, Pauline Lee, Joseph Mondik, and Debra Kavitski.

Her faith remained an important part of her life. She served as Coordinator of Catechism at St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church in Hazleton, Pennsylvania, and later attended St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church in Orlando, Florida. Barbara found joy in the Highland Lakes Chorus and the Royal Highland Dance Club, and she loved playing bunco and bocce. Before retiring, she worked as a Special Education Teacher, a career that reflected her patience, compassion, and generous spirit.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Frank Mondik, Jr.; her beloved granddaughter, Heather Hoffmaster; and her son-in-law, David Yonkoski. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, who will lovingly remember her kindness, warmth, and unwavering devotion to those she loved.
