Bailey Plummer

George Bailey Plummer, age 84, of Cunningham, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2026.

Born on August 15, 1941, in Montgomery County, Tennessee, Bailey was the son of the late Robert Lewis Plummer and Mattie Belle Davis Plummer Batson. A lifelong Christian and former Elder of Mt. View Presbyterian Church, he graduated from Montgomery Central High School in 1959. He enjoyed a long and rewarding career with Cumberland Electric Membership Corporation. Bailey was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who took great pride in providing for his family. He loved the outdoors and spent many years farming the family land, raising cattle, pigs, sheep, quail, goats, and rabbits. He especially cherished running his rabbit dogs, finding joy in watching and listening to them work.

Bailey is survived by his loving wife of more than 64 years, Sarah Bumpus Plummer; his children, Kevin Plummer (Kristen), Kris Rich (Michael), and Kim Drye (Scott); grandchildren, Boone Smith (Melissa) and Dylan Smith (Karlee); great-grandchildren, Rhett, Brynlei, Grayson, and Layla; his sister, Norma Alexander (Gary); and nephew, Greg Plummer.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lewis Plummer; his mother, Mattie Belle Davis Plummer Batson; his stepfather, Billie Z. Batson; his brother, Joel Plummer; and his sister-in-law, Shirley Plummer.
