B. Duffy Goodman

B. Duffy Goodman

April 21, 1953 March 6, 2026

Jacksonville, FL

B. Duffy Goodman passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026, in Jacksonville, Florida, at the age of 72. Born on April 21, 1953, in Baltimore, Maryland, to Meta Ewart Goodman and James Goodman, Duffy carried a lifelong sense of adventure and curiosity. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Mark Goodman.

At Virginia Tech, he sang with a traveling college group and earned a degree in Chemistry. He spent 29 years as a chemist with Shell, living in Houston, Texas, and the Netherlands. An avid sailor, he raced to Veracruz, Mexico, among the highlights of his semi-pro sailing career. At age 50, Duffy and his wife, Jennifer, began a decade-long midlife chapter in Bocas del Toro, Panama, where they built two off-grid homes on a quiet surf beach and lived among monkeys, sloths, and sea turtles. They formed deep, family-like friendships there, including with Harry Grant.

Later, Duffy and Jennifer settled on Amelia Island, where he found joy in volunteering at the Salvation Army’s Hope House, exploring local history, and taking daily walks with his dog, Fern. His love of animals and adventure led the couple on memorable journeys to South Africa, where they drove thousands of miles through Kruger National Park, as well as to Iceland, Patagonia, Alaska, and beyond.

Duffy is survived by his wife, Jennifer Goodman; his stepdaughters, Alexa and Tasha; their husbands, Drew and Scott; and his grandchildren, Mason, Evie, Zakary, Brynn, and Braden.
