Audrey Mae Stutler

Audrey Mae Stutler

May 4, 1934 March 11, 2026

San Diego, CA

Audrey Mae Stutler was born and raised in Milbank, South Dakota. After graduating from high school, she began her career working for Milbank Mutual Insurance. She later moved to Minnesota, where she worked for Great Northern Railroad in Minneapolis and Willmar.

Audrey married Frank O. Stutler, Jr., of Big Stone City, South Dakota, April 23, 1960. Frank was in the U.S. Navy at the time and stationed in San Diego, where they made their home and raised their family.

Together they had three daughters: Susie (Bill), Lisa, and Leslie. Audrey devoted herself to her family while also contributing to her community and workplace. She worked part-time for several years as a bookkeeper at a Century 21 Real Estate office and later served part-time administering notary exams for the Secretary of State.

Throughout her life, Audrey generously gave her time to volunteer work. She welcomed international students to the U.S. through San Diego State University, volunteered at the Blood Bank, and supported Navy families by assisting expectant mothers whose husbands were deployed overseas. She also helped with the food pantry and other ministries at St. Therese Catholic Church and contributed her time to Elder Care programs.

Audrey enjoyed many hobbies, including baking, sewing, knitting, ceramics, playing the piano, reading, playing games, and traveling. She was always eager to try new things—including learning to snow ski in her late 60s.

Audrey is survived by her husband, Frank, her daughters, and her five grandchildren, Kelly (Timur), Kevin (Elise), Christopher, Kallen, and Nicholas. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and was a fun Grandma.

Audrey opened her heart and home to family and friends alike, always ready with a warm welcome, a good laugh, and a plate of her famous chocolate chip cookies. She will be remembered as a great Mom to her girls and for her kindness, generosity, and the joy she brought to those around her. Her love for her family and community leaves a lasting legacy.

The family will hold a private funeral mass at St. Therese Catholic Church and interment will be at Miramar National Cemetery.
