April 14, 2010— March 10, 2026
Lincolnton, GA
Asher Bennett Fields, born on April 14, 2010, left this earth on the morning of March 10, 2026, and entered the arms of his living Savior, Jesus Christ. Named because his first and middle names both mean “happiness,” he arrived as the much-anticipated second child who brought his family great joy. Asher lived with an infectious spirit—full of surprises, bravery, and life. He never met a stranger and offered his compassionate heart to anyone who needed a friend, whether in a classroom, lunchroom, or any place he could simply be present for others.
He shared his vibrant personality with friends across Wisconsin, Arkansas, Ohio, and Georgia. Asher loved the outdoors, chasing game in the yard and exploring the landscapes of Wilkes County with his friend Shelby. He found joy in art, especially ceramics, and had the opportunity to work with talented artists including local Wilkes County potter Nutter Mudder as well as artists connected to Harvard and Santa Fe. He also embraced poultry farming with the Callaway family—the only occasion he willingly wore jeans. When not sporting his prized designer sneakers, he donned boxing gloves at Armor of God Boxing, where he built friendships and received the gospel of Christ from caring mentors. A true renaissance boy, Asher filled his sketching notebooks with colorful graffiti, favored the color pink, and lived a rich life in his nearly sixteen years that many only dream of experiencing.
He is survived by his loving parents, Mark Austin and Shari (Sharon) Lynette Fields, his older sister Esmé Arabella, and his younger brother Audric Hanan. He is also survived by his Meemaw, Anita L. Fields, and was preceded in death by his Pawpaw, James W. Fields, Sr. Additional survivors include his grandparents Terry and Ruthanne O’Brien; aunts and uncles Amy and Aaron Grzymkowski, Jim and Tina Fields, and Shelley and Bob Johaness; and cousins Jackson (Emma), Harrison, Pierce, and Gracie Grzymkowski, Abigail and Cole Fields, and Matthew and Nolan Johaness. Asher leaves behind countless cousins who were also dear friends, along with scores of friends who loved him deeply.
As his family entrusts him into the care of the Almighty, they hold to the hope and salvation found in the Lord Jesus Christ, knowing their mourning will one day be turned into joy at the glorious resurrection.
