He was 89 years old. Arvin was born on December 4, 1936, in Donnelly, Idaho, the son of Beverly and Herschell Smith, where he was raised on the family farm in Donnelly. His family moved to Nampa, Idaho, where he met and married Patricia Hart. They and their children were members of the Open Door Church. Arvin and his young family took many trips to Idaho City, enjoying the town's glimpse into the early days of the Boise Basin gold rush.Arvin's love for cars led to a successful career at Edmark Chevrolet and later owning his own business, Smitty's Used Cars & RVs, which gave him great joy working with his sons. Sports were another one of his passions, never missing his children's games and closely following his favorite local and national teams. His enthusiasm for antiques and collectibles was spent lovingly with his family while hunting for treasures. Fishing was also a favorite pastime, as he appreciated the splendor of the outdoors with loved ones.His warmth and humor touched everyone who knew him.Arvin is survived by his children, Timothy Smith (partner Angie and her daughter Kali), Allen Smith (Tina and her daughter Angelina), and Vicki Huter; his grandchildren, Daniel Huter (Carly), Whitney Foster (Steven), Joshua Smith, Jessica Ashby (Anthony), Tyler Smith (Arial); his great-grandchildren, Otis and Jones Huter; Charlotte Foster; Abigail Smith; Emerson, Ellie Mae, Ruby and Benny Ashby; James and Riley Smith; and ex-spouse Patricia Smith.He was preceded in death by his parents, Herschell and Beverly Smith; his brother, Kemp Smith; his sister, Diana Rose; his older brother, Herschell Homer Smith; and his son, Eugene Smith, who served in the Navy.A private burial will be held on March 18, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell, Idaho."For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even into death." - Psalm 48:14Read The Full ObituaryTo plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
