Born in Huntington, New York, in 1946 and raised in Glen Cove, Arnie earned a degree in biology from Brandeis University before serving as a biological assistant at the U.S. Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine. He later received a Ph.D. in Physiology from Emory University, specializing in neuroendocrinology and reproductive endocrinology.
