Arnold Burress, 94, of Redkey, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at Parker Health Care & Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by loved ones. Born on January 11, 1932, in Nicks Creek, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Ora (Lowe) and Perry Burress. Arnold proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and worked as a machine repairman at Indiana Glass for more than 40 years. Following his retirement in 1997, he spent ten years at Fairborn Animal Hospital. He also served on the Redkey Town Board and delivered newspapers for the Commercial Review.
A man of deep faith, Arnold pastored at Community Chapel Church in New Castle from 1965 to 1970 and at Redkey Community Baptist Church beginning in 1971. At the time of his passing, he was a member of Dunkirk Freewill Baptist Church. He found great joy in gardening, hunting, bluegrass music, canning, making pies, and beekeeping. Those who knew him will remember his steadfast love for the Lord, his church, and his family. He led by quiet example, working hard, treating others with kindness, and faithfully reading his Bible.
Arnold is survived by his daughters, Loria J. Pursifull (Eric) and Gloria May (Randy), his son, Tim Burress (Stephanie), three grandchildren, David May (Tiffany), Erica Kelly (Michael), and Tyler Pursifull (Leah), thirteen great-grandchildren, his sisters Jill Musgrove and Hope Burress, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandchild, Kristy May, one brother, and four sisters.
