Mountain City, TN
Arlen Jay Sala, age 56, of Mountain City, passed away on March 12, 2026, at Johnson City Medical Center. Born on November 11, 1969, to the late Donald and Alma Sala, Arlen grew up surrounded by the love of his family, including his grandparents William and Mary Sala and Paul and Frances Pardue. He was preceded in death by his sister-in-law Mary (Dixon) Sala, the mother of his children Sharon (Gentry) Sala, and several aunts and uncles.
For many years Arlen worked as a truck driver until a serious accident changed the course of his life. He had a deep passion for motorcycles and cherished riding his Harley Davidson. A talented guitar player, he found joy in classic country and southern rock music. He also loved a good southern home-cooked meal and a glass of sweet tea. A man of faith, Arlen was a Christian and a member of the Church of Christ.
He is survived by his daughter Shania Powell (Tyler) and their daughters Isabella and soon-to-be-born son Bryson; his son Austin Sala (Nicole Ward); his sister Donna Burgess (Brent); his brother Gary Sala; special nieces Deidre Dunn (Logan) and Greta Helm (Eric); several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and many dear friends who were like family. Those who knew him will remember his love for life, his music, and the simple pleasures he held close.
