Argus Levi Brasell

1931 — 2026

Alexander City, AL

Argus Levi Brasell, known affectionately as Argus to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026, in Alexander City, Alabama. Born on April 6, 1931, in the tight-knit Eagle Creek Community, he lived a life marked by deep faith, generosity, and a spirited nature.

After graduating from the Alabama Polytechnic Institute, now Auburn University, Argus built a successful career as an insurance agent with Liberty National Life Insurance Company, serving for 33 years. In retirement, he found great enjoyment working part-time at Bice Motors, where he sold vehicles and assisted with transports. A proud United States Air Force veteran who served in the Korean Conflict, he remained a devoted Auburn University fan throughout his life. He took pride in maintaining a beautiful yard and spent many happy hours in his woodworking shop, crafting cross clocks and birdhouses treasured by family and friends.

Argus was actively involved in his community through the Alexander City Kiwanis Club and Habitat for Humanity. A longtime member of First Baptist Church, he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher for many years and was honored as Deacon Emeritus. His warm personality and genuine interest in others made him a beloved figure who never met a stranger.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Barbara Veazey Brasell; daughter, Stephanie B. (Chad) Farris; son, Jason Stuart Brasell; grandchildren, Hannah Reed (Evan) Coulter and Holly Reed; and sister, Jennifer Roberson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Grace Adair Brasell; brother, Gerald A. Brasell; and sister, Joyce B. Westbrook.
