Ardith Frisbey ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services on Mar. 6, 2026.Ardith Elaine Frisbey, age 100, of Ithaca, Michigan, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2026. Born July 30, 1925, she was the beloved daughter of Clifford and Nellie McVeigh and spent her entire life in the community she loved.Above all else, Ardith was a devoted wife and mother. She married the love of her life, Harold Frisbey, after meeting him at the Crystal Roller Rink. She returned home that very night and told her mother she had met the man she would marry. Together, they shared 52 wonderful years of marriage and built a remarkable family.During World War II, while Harold served in the Army, Ardith contributed to the war effort working in a factory like a true "Rosie the Riveter." She also worked sewing garments for Hudson's on Woodward Avenue in downtown Detroit.Ardith was the proud mother of ten children, grandmother to 26, and great-grandmother to many. Her life revolved around her family and her faith, and her home was always open-not only to her children, but to many other young people she lovingly welcomed and often considered her own.A gifted homemaker and tireless worker, Ardith believed deeply in teamwork and often reminded her children, "Many hands make light work." Her kitchen was the heart of the home. She was known for her incredible pies, her famous sugar cookies and molasses cookies, and the two cookie jars that were always full for children and visitors alike. She loved feeding anyone who walked through her door.Ardith was also an accomplished gardener who cultivated beautiful flowers and abundant vegetable gardens. She canned nearly everything she grew, and family and friends especially treasured her canned peaches and homemade pickles. She crocheted countless blankets, baby booties, and hats over the years, leaving a warm legacy stitched into the lives of many.Always impeccably dressed and perfectly polished, Ardith was a gracious hostess who loved gathering people together. She believed "the more the merrier" and cherished afternoons sharing coffee by the pool with family and friends. Her faith guided her life. Ardith spent decades volunteering with The Gideons International and ministering to inmates at the county jail on Sunday afternoons. She also frequently opened her home to missionaries passing through the area.Music and joy were always present in her home. She loved her Time-Life Big Band record collection and could often be heard singing in the kitchen while preparing Sunday breakfast. In her later years, Ardith found comfort in the care and friendship of the wonderful nursing staff and a special roommate, Joyce, at Schnepp Senior Care Center, where she delighted in sharing candy and conversation with those who cared so lovingly for her.Ardith's life was defined by generosity, hard work, hospitality, and deep love for her family. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she nurtured, fed, clothed, encouraged, and welcomed into her home. She will be remembered as a woman whose heart and table were always open.Ardith is survived by 8 of her children, Stan (Linda) Frisbey, Dawn Lewis, Becky Frisbey (daughter-in-law), Wes (Linda) Frisbey, Becky (Chuck) McDonald, Kent Frisbey, Charlie Frisbey, Angie (Larry) Struck, Tonya Frisbey (Ed Hubel). She was also the proud grandmother of 26 grandchildren, along with many great-grandchildren, all of whom were deeply loved. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold Frisbey; her sons, Garry Frisbey and Clif Frisbey; her son-in-law, Dr. Edward Lewis; her grandchildren, Heather Frisbey, Melissa Wetzel, Trevor Wetzel, and Sarah Frisbey; and her parents, Clifford and Nellie McVeigh. No question that her son Clif welcomed her into Heaven with a sweet smile and a, "Hey, Maude!"A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, to be determined. Those wishing to make a gift in memory of Ardith are encouraged to make a donation to their favorite charity.Having lived a life of faith, generosity, and service, Ardith now hears the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant." - Matthew 25:23To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
