Ardis L. Burfield

Ardis L. Burfield, 89, of New Columbia, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at her home. Born on December 8, 1936, in New Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Cloyd V. Huff and Sara P. (Buss) Koch. On February 16, 1957, she married Starling L. “Bud” Burfield, and together they shared 43 years of marriage until his death on September 9, 2000.

A graduate of the former Watsontown High School, Ardis worked several jobs in her younger years before devoting the greater part of her life to raising and caring for her family. She was an active member of White Deer Faith Chapel, where she generously helped prepare meals and support various church activities. She also volunteered her time at the White Deer Community Park.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Richard Kugel, of Scio, Oregon; her brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Joyce Huff, of New Columbia; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley and Fernando Fernandez, of Milton, and Maureen and Wesley Wagner, of Strasburg; and her grandson, Nathaniel Kugel. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her stepfather, Ned Koch.
