Archibald "Archie" Patrick Dowell

Archibald "Archie" Patrick Dowell

May 4, 1949 February 11, 2026

Panama City Beach, FL

Archibald Patrick Dowell, affectionately known as Archie, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026, at the age of 76, surrounded by the love of his family. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, on May 4, 1949, he spent his later years along the shores of Panama City Beach, Florida, where he found solace in the beauty of nature. A talented welder, Archie devoted the final chapter of his career to the World Shipping Container industry, where his skilled hands and strong work ethic earned him the lasting respect of his colleagues and friends.

Archie found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved fishing and hunting, and on quieter days he enjoyed watching old Westerns featuring John Wayne and classic episodes of “Gunsmoke.” Above all, he was a devoted family man whose heart was centered on his sons, Mark and his wife Therese of Panama City Beach, Florida, and Archie Dale and his wife Jullieann of Bonne Terre, Missouri.

He was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren—Mark Dowell, Jr., Jacob Dowell, Sheena Thompson, Amanda Beranak, Elizabeth Quinn, Steven Dowell, and Scott Dowell—and a doting great-grandfather to fifteen great-grandchildren, whose laughter and presence brought light to his life. Archie is also survived by his loving sisters, Lois Webb and Yvonne Leehelan, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends who will remember him with great fondness.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Washington and Myrtle Serene (Dixon) Dowell, and by ten siblings: Leroy Dowell, George Dowell, Alfred Dowell, Oscar Dowell, Eula Mae VanAlestine, Rosie Martin, Ruby Starr, Cecilia Johnson, Pauline Storz, and Shirley Wilhelm. Archie leaves behind a legacy of love, quiet strength, and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
