Antonio Teixeira ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Maliszewski Funeral Home - South River on Mar. 10, 2026.Antonio "Tó" Vaz Teixeira of South River peacefully passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at JFK Medical Center in Edison, surrounded by his loving family.Antonio immigrated to South River in 1979 and built a life centered on family, hard work, and community. Before his retirement, he worked for Topline Construction. He was a proud member of the South River Portuguese Club and was known for his love of walking, gardening, and soccer. A devoted supporter of Sporting CP, he rarely missed a chance to cheer on his favorite team.Above all else, Antonio cherished his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Being a grandfather brought him immense joy, and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were truly the light of his life. Antonio dedicated his life to his family, and his final words reflected that love: "I love my family."Antonio was predeceased by his parents and sister, Luisa Santos. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Maria Conceição Amaro Fernandes; his cherished children and their spouses, Ana Maria Fernandes Teixeira Oliveira and Alirio de Oliveira, Paulo Jorge Fernandes Teixeira and Melanie Meehan Teixeira, and Tony Fernandes Teixeira; his loving grandchildren, Raquel Oliveira and her fiancé Yale, Alexander Oliveira and his fiancée Barbara, Makayla Teshima and her husband Chad, Nicholas Teixeira, and Gabriella Teixeira; and his treasured great-grandchildren, Aria Teshima and Zayn Teshima. He is also survived by his siblings, Jose Teixeira, Joaquim Teixeira, Ana Amaral, and Conceição Teixeira and many loving nieces and nephews.Funeral services are scheduled for 9:30am on Saturday, March 14 at M.A. Maliszewski Funeral Home, 218 Whitehead Ave, South River with a funeral mass at Corpus Christi Church at 10:30am.
