Antonio Santos

September 24, 1935 March 9, 2026

Wildomar, CA

Antonio Santos, a cherished family man and respected member of the community, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026, in Wildomar, California, at the age of 90. Born on September 24, 1935, in El Centro, California, to Portuguese immigrant parents Claudio Dos Santos and Marianna Borges Martins, Antonio grew up with a spirit of adventure and a strong sense of duty. His parents had immigrated to America in 1922, traveling from the east coast to settle in El Centro and Artesia, where Antonio and his siblings—Adelino, Claudio, Lionel (Leo), and Mary—were born.

He bravely served his country in the US Army from 1958 to 1960, an experience that instilled in him a profound respect for discipline and camaraderie. After his honorable discharge, Antonio worked for 27 years as a truck driver in the aerospace industry, a career that combined his love for driving with the excitement of that innovative field. Beyond his professional life, he was an avid enthusiast of classic automobiles, especially his beloved 1934 Ford, and he cherished sharing his knowledge of hot rods with others. He also held a deep fondness for horse racing and once came close to becoming a jockey at Los Alamitos Racetrack.

Family was the cornerstone of Antonio’s world. He was a loving father to his children Synthia, Katherine, Elizabeth, Angela, Celeste, and Lloyd Santos, a doting grandfather to his seven grandchildren—Melanie, Rachael, Stephanie, Vanessa, Jennifer, Adrianne, and Andres—and a great-grandfather to ten. He was married to the children’s mother, Pamela V. (Delk) Santos, from 1959 to 1977. His family will remember him as a man who was always present, offering a listening ear, a word of advice, or a comforting hug. His nieces and nephews, too, will recall his friendly nature and the genuine interest he took in their lives.

Antonio’s faith was a guiding force throughout his life. His active involvement with the Knights of Columbus reflected his deep commitment to compassion, charity, and service. He will be remembered as a warm, positive, and faith-filled man who greeted everyone with a smile and an open heart, leaving a legacy of kindness, dedication, and unwavering love for his family and community.
