Antonio Delgado Santiago, of Philadelphia, passed away on March 12, 2026 at Jefferson Torresdale Hospital at the age of 93. Known affectionately as “Cheo” to his family and friends, he was born on January 30, 1933 in Hatillo, Puerto Rico to the late Andres Delgado Dorta and the late Goyita Santiago Delgado Rojas.
A devoted husband to Maria Elena Acevedo Santiago, Cheo was a man who found deep joy in simple pleasures. An avid Phillies fan, he loved gardening, fishing, crabbing, and cooking. Above all, he cherished spending time with his family, which remained his greatest passion throughout his life. Beginning his career as a busboy at the Warwick Hotel, he rose through hard work and dedication to become Head Chef, bringing both skill and heart to his craft.
Cheo is survived by his wife Maria and their three children: Sylvia Delgado Figueroa, David Steven Delgado (Michelle), and Maria Elena Delgado. He was predeceased by his son Jose Miguel Delgado (survived by Ivan Leon). He leaves behind many cherished grandchildren: Marcial Figueroa, Sandy Figueroa Delgado, Jose Morales, Elena Morales, Luis Morales, Nicholas Delgado, David Delgado Jr., Alexander Delgado, Ellis Pitt III, and Jaxon Bailey, as well as great-grandchildren Antonio Munez, Sammy Rodriguez, Marcial Figueroa, Raemond Figueroa, and Marae Figueroa. He was predeceased by one great-grandson, Jose Infante. Cheo is also survived by his brothers Nelson Delgado and Saul Delgado, and was predeceased by his siblings Gregorio Delgado, Aida Delgado, and Esther Delgado.
