Monte Vista, CO
Antonia "Tonnie" J. Lopez, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on March 14, 2026. Born on November 20, 1935, in Medanales, New Mexico, she made her home in Monte Vista, Colorado, where she lived a life marked by love, strength, and deep devotion to family.
A dedicated homemaker, Antonia was known for her tenacity and sharp wit. She took great pride in her appearance, especially her hair, and found joy in tending her garden, where her marigolds and petunias flourished. She cherished the companionship of her dogs, Fuzzy, Missy, and Kirby, and shared her wisdom on home remedies with those around her. Strong-willed and unapologetically herself, she lived with a hearty appetite for life and reminded her loved ones to honor their commitments and promises.
She is survived by her children, Merlinda (Charlie) Lopez-Cellura, Emily Lopez, Evan (Melody) Lopez, Carlos (Jackie) Lopez, and Rigo Lopez; her grandchildren, Brandon Sanchez, Carlos Lopez, Levi Velasquez, Bella Lopez, Kaydence Lopez, Zeke Velasquez, and Gilbert Lopez; and her great-grandchild, Aiden Sanchez. Antonia will be remembered fondly by her many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carlos A. Lopez, her siblings Sadie Quintana, Trinidad "Trinnie" Vaughn, Ramoncito Vigil, Arturo Vigil, and Jose Gumicindo Vigil, and her beloved pets.
