Anton Hilscher ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Grace Funeral Home - Victoria on Mar. 16, 2026.Anton "Tony" Louis Hilscher, 92, of Victoria, Texas, entered into eternal rest on February 23, 2026.Born on December 20, 1933, in Swiss Alp, Texas, he was one of ten children of the late Emil J. Hilscher and Annie M. Hrncir Hilscher.Tony proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956, attaining the rank of Private First Class. After his service, he worked for H.E.B. before beginning a long and dedicated career with the United States Postal Service, retiring after more than 35 years as a postal carrier. A faithful member of Holy Family Catholic Church, he also gave many years of service as an election volunteer in Victoria County.Tony was known for his deep love of country music--especially the songs of Roy Acuff--and for his talent as an accomplished dobro player. He cherished traveling with his family to music festivals across the country, with the Grand Ole Opry holding a special place in his heart.He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Josephine Janak Hilscher; his brothers, George (Nina), Erwin (Lincy Mae Colbert), Clarence (Ruby), Marvin, and Edward; and his sisters, Anna Mae Smith (Carl), Leona Bass (Harvey), and Juliette Westphal.He is survived by his brother, John (Mary Ann) Hilscher of Victoria; brother-in-law, Ron Westphal of Arlington; sister-in-law, Margaret Hilscher of Port Lavaca; daughter, Karen Hilscher of Victoria (Daniel Salazar, Sr. of Cuero); son, Allen Hilscher (Danielle) of Victoria; grandson, Nicholas Hilscher and granddaughters Autumn and Caroline Hilscher, all of Victoria; and many loving nieces and nephews.Funeral arrangements are through Grace Funeral Home on Highway 87 North in Victoria. The service and burial will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, located at the corner of Laurent and Mockingbird, in Victoria.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
