Antoinette Rudy

1920 — 2026

Newington, CT

Antoinette Rudy was born on October 23, 1920, and passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was the eldest child of the late Mary and Peter Wayda and grew up in Bridgeport, Connecticut. There she met Alex John Rudy of New Britain, and the two married in April 1942. Alex later built a home in Newington, Connecticut, where they shared their lives together. Antoinette was predeceased by her husband Alex and her two younger brothers, Walter of Pennsylvania and William of Massachusetts.

She worked for many years in the Newington school system in a variety of roles. After retiring, she and Alex, whom she affectionately called Annette among friends, spent many happy years square dancing and traveling. In retirement they continued to travel, often attending stamp shows as they built their collection of stamps and first-day covers, one of Annette’s favorite pastimes. She was an avid baker, loved attending classical concerts, and was known for her thoughtful kindness, always remembering friends and loved ones with birthday and get-well wishes. Each Easter she made butter lambs for friends, and she enjoyed sewing small cloth Christmas tree ornaments to share with those she cared about.

Antoinette is survived by her daughters, Jeannette Rudy and her husband Andre Rouyer of France, and Margaret Rudy Weiss of Venice, Florida; her son, John Rudy; her granddaughter, Alexandra Plas and her husband Roland of France, along with their children Audrey and Robin; and her nieces Barbara Burrill and Anne Cooke and nephew Michael Wanik, all of Connecticut.

She will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew her.
