Anthony T. Crawford
July 12, 1955— February 28, 2026
Staunton, VA
Anthony Tyrone Crawford, 70, passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Augusta Health in Fishersville.
He was born on July 12, 1955, in Staunton to the late Joan Crawford and Preston William Lee Moore.
Anthony graduated in 1974 from Robert E. Lee High School. He was employed at Walmart as a Customer Service Representative and retired after twenty years of dedicated service. Anthony was well known at Walmart for his friendly nature, willingness to help others, and genuine care for everyone he encountered. He was also employed at the Frontier Culture Museum.
Anthony was deeply involved in youth league sports as a coach through the Staunton Quarterback Club, where he devoted countless hours supporting local athletes and programs. In his younger years, he was also an active athlete in the community, playing both baseball and football in local leagues.
A lifelong sports fan, Anthony loved all kinds of sports, especially cheering on the Chicago Bears and the New York Mets. He was also a loyal supporter of the Fighting Leemen and the Staunton Storm. Whether at home or on the go, he rarely missed a game and especially enjoyed listening to games on his favorite radio.
Anthony found peace and joy in fishing and had a genuine love for people. He also enjoyed watching western and classic cowboy movies. Known for his personal style, he loved wearing hats and was rarely seen without his sunglasses.
Above all else, Anthony loved God. His generosity, compassion, and selfless nature left a lasting impression on all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his son, Anthony Fisher; his grandson, Elijah Hagy; his brothers, Timothy “Timmy” Lee Crawford and Dean Lamont Crawford; his aunts, Anna Lee Crawford, Joan Ecoe (Ernest), and Agnes Moore Frye; and many other extended family members including nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his devoted longtime friend, Denia Fisher; his beloved uncle, Melvin Fitch Lee Crawford, affectionately known as “Baby Brother”; and his aunts, Dorothy E. Jackson, Lucille Jones, and Francis C. Johnson.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton with Reverend Michael Turner officiating. Those attending the service are invited to wear sunglasses in memory of Anthony, who was rarely seen without them.
Following the service, family and friends are invited to gather for a repast at 12:30 PM, held at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Staunton.
As it is written in 2 Timothy 4:7, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
Though our hearts are heavy, we rejoice in knowing that Anthony has answered the Master’s call and now rests peacefully in the presence of the Lord.
