Annie Merle Ward, born Annie Merle Coleman on November 3, 1942, in Wright City, Oklahoma, to Meril and Dessie Graves Coleman, passed away on March 8, 2026. She spent her early years in Wright City before marrying Alton Gale Ward and moving to California. There she worked as a hairdresser before devoting herself fully to raising her family and caring for her home. In her later years she moved to Texas to be near her loved ones.
A devout Christian who loved Jesus, Annie carried her faith through every season of life. She found deep joy in her family, happiest when surrounded by them, and took quiet pleasure in simple things such as listening to the birds sing. Through many challenges she displayed remarkable strength, perseverance, and unwavering faith that inspired all who knew her.
Annie was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Jeffrey Ward. She is survived by her daughters, Angela Glossup and husband Gary of Sumner, Texas, and Julie Toon of Granbury, Texas; her grandson Ryan Toon of Granbury, Texas, who was both her best friend and devoted caregiver; along with several other grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her sisters Peggy Martin of Nixa, Missouri, Faye Nolan of Blossom, Texas, Wanda Morris of Wright City, Oklahoma, and Susan Claborn of Wright City, Oklahoma; and her brother Charley Coleman of Wright City, Oklahoma.
She will be lovingly remembered for her strong faith, her deep love for her family, and the quiet strength she showed throughout her life. Her family finds comfort knowing she is now at peace with her Lord and Savior.
