Anne Whitford

Anne Whitford, 88, passed away on March 6, 2026. Born in Indiana on July 6, 1937, she attended Allegheny College before beginning a lifelong journey with her husband, James, whom she married in December 1963. Together they raised their three daughters in Cleveland, Ohio, Vicksburg, Mississippi, and Milwaukee, Wisconsin, before settling in Grand Rapids in 1978.

A woman of deep faith, Anne remained active in her church community throughout her life. She will be remembered above all for her steadfast love of family and friends and for her trademark sense of humor that could brighten any situation. She shared that light generously with her sister, Sally Deel; her daughters, Jody (David) Cash, Wendy (Todd) Peuler, and Jamie (Curt) Groelsma; her grandchildren, Michael (Christina) Peuler, Caitlin Cash, Tressa (Collin) Hill, Ashley Peuler, Taylor Cash, and Jim (Kendall) Groelsma; her great-granddaughters, Leah and Myla Peuler; and her niece and nephews.

A private family memorial service was held at Anne’s request. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Calvary Church of Grand Rapids.
