Anne Elizabeth Farrell, née Harrington, passed away from natural causes at Ellis Hospital on Friday, March 13, 2026.

Born in Amsterdam on May 30, 1953, Anne was the oldest of ten children. She graduated from Bishop Scully High School in 1971 and went on to earn her nursing education at St. Mary’s School of Nursing before completing her RN degree at Fulton Montgomery Community College.

Anne built a meaningful career as a counselor in addiction and rehabilitation, recently retiring from the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Services. Deeply committed to helping others, she was actively involved with Al-Anon for many years and generously supported multiple non-profit organizations.

She was predeceased by her parents, Anne and Jack Harrington, and her brother Marty Harrington, all of Amsterdam. Anne is survived by her sons, Brian Farrell (Nicole) and Patrick Farrell (Jessica); her grandchildren, Kathryn, Madalyn, Braelyn, Daniel, and Dean Farrell; and her siblings, Tim Harrington (Joanne), Maureen Bernat (Skip Sgarlata), Nora Bartman, Eileen French (Lee), Denis Harrington (Caroline), Sheila Sawyer (John), Mary Kate Jensen (Ken), and Brigid Reyes (David), as well as her sister-in-law Valerie Boughton. She will also be remembered by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.
