Anne Catherine Carkner, age 81 of Cookeville, passed away on March 13, 2026, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Born on August 2, 1944, in Albany, New York, Anne lived a life marked by kindness, dedication, and a deep love for her family and animals.

She worked for many years as a legal secretary at the Bond, Schoeneck and King Law Firm, where her commitment and attention to detail were evident in everything she did. After retiring, she found great joy volunteering at the Cookeville/Putnam County Animal Shelter, where her gentle compassion for animals was a true reflection of her character. Her beloved cat, Remington, remained a constant and cherished companion.

Anne was an avid reader and enjoyed playing Mahjong. She was also an active member of the Cookeville Corvette Club and the Plateau Corvette Club, where she shared many happy times with friends and her husband Jack. Her involvement in the Cookeville Welcome Club further highlighted her warm and welcoming spirit.

Anne is survived by her children Karen Schumacher (Leon), Lori Austin (Jeffery), Jacki York (Jared), and John Carkner (Tania), who remember her as a loving and steadfast presence in their lives. She is also survived by her grandchildren James Belluscio (Amanda), Dhasean Serrano (Maria), Christian Serrano (Ginger), Katherine York, and Sawyer York, and her great-grandchildren Bella Belluscio, James John Belluscio, Jace Belluscio, Javier Serrano, CJ Serrano, and Galaxie Ortiz. She was preceded in death by her husband, John “Jack” Carkner, to whom she was married for over 30 years, and by her mother, Anna Davis.
