Anne Bernadette Dalzell

Anne Bernadette Dalzell

Linwood, NJ

Anne Bernadette Dalzell (Pine) of Linwood passed away at home on March 11, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Atlantic City, New Jersey on March 21, 1930, to Croatian immigrants Zora and Ivan Pine (Pinezic’), Anne was raised in Chelsea Heights, where she cared for her two younger brothers while her parents worked during the Depression. She attended Our Lady Star of the Sea and Holy Spirit High School before continuing her education at Mount Saint Mary’s Convent School in New Hampshire.

A competitive and spirited young woman, Anne met her future husband, Fred Dalzell of Pittsburgh, on the tennis courts at Bader Field. After challenging the Duquesne University team captain to a match—and requesting a rematch the following day—they fell in love, married, and settled in South Jersey, where they raised their six children. Anne devoted herself to her family as a stay-at-home mother until her children graduated high school, after which she enjoyed a long and successful career as a real estate agent with Balsley Losco Real Estate. She was known as a beautiful, intelligent, hard-working, and fiercely loyal woman who was always ready to help others, especially her family, often asking, “Is there anything I can do for you?” Deeply devoted to her faith, Anne was particularly close to Saint Gerard and regularly attended Eucharistic Adoration at Our Lady of Sorrows Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Fred Dalzell; her daughter, Annie Dalzell; and her brothers, John and Anthony Pine. Anne is survived by her children, Fred Dalzell (Jane), Mary Lou Hare (Steve), Stan Dalzell (Barb), Jim Dalzell (Lori), and Peter Dalzell (Annie); her best friend, Maureen Scanlon; nieces Joanie Brooks, Jamie Di Perna, Nancy Leonard, Charlene Pine, and Phyllis Pine; nephew John Pine; along with 21 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
