Anne Marie “Puggy” Bakos, 83, of Danville, passed away on February 25, 2026, at Hendricks Regional Health in Danville. Born on June 25, 1942, in Flint, Michigan, she was the daughter of Lawrence and Marguerite (Paal) Knutson.
A 1960 graduate of Lapeer West High School, Anne went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Art and English from Michigan State University in 1965 and later completed her Master’s degree at Oakland University. Following in the footsteps of her educator parents, she became a dedicated teacher, serving in special education with the Waterford School District for nearly thirty years. She worked with students across all grade levels and in the district’s day treatment program, touching many lives through her patience and commitment.
After retiring in 1997, Anne spent much of her time in Peoria, Arizona, where she was an active member of Grace Church. She was remembered for her sharp insights, warm conversation, and a keen eye for décor.
She is survived by her son, Jon (Virginia) Bakos. Anne was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Marguerite Knutson.
