Preserve forever →Anna Pauline "Patsy" Price
March 3, 1926— March 14, 2026
Oakton, VA
Anna Pauline “Patsy” Price, born Anna Pauline Cummins on March 3, 1926, in Washington, DC, passed away peacefully in her own bed on March 14, 2026, at the age of 100. The daughter of Mary (née Kenyon) and Elmer Cummins, she spent her early years in the family home her grandfather built in Oakton, Virginia, nestled in the oak grove that gave the town its name.
Except for the years she lived in Clifton and Manassas while raising her children, Patsy resided in that beloved Oakton house for the rest of her life. She was known for her lifelong kindness to animals, a compassion that began on the small family farm where she tended named chickens, a cow, and a rooster called Soldier Boy who would leap through her outstretched arms. She supported countless cats and dogs throughout her years and remained an optimist with unfailing good humor, always seeking the good in people and in life.
Patsy graduated from Fairfax High School in 1943 and later attended Strayer’s Business College in Washington. A lifelong member of Oakton Methodist Church, she played piano for the congregation as a teenager and was an Honored Queen in Job’s Daughters. In 1946 she married Neil Price in the same church; together they had five children before later divorcing while remaining lifelong friends. After raising her family, she worked as personal secretary to the Prince William County Executive Officer. In the 1980s she returned to the Oakton house to care for her mother, and together they moved the home a half mile to its current location on Miller Road.
Patsy is survived by her five children—Michael Glendon Price, Terry Jo Miller and her husband Mike, Donald Kell Price and his partner Lucille Schacht, Kenyon Price and his wife Jill, and Stevi Ann Bailie—as well as eleven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Each spring and early summer, the jonquils and irises she planted continue to bloom around the home she cherished.
