Anna Mae Magnes (Rizzo), 88, of Amherst, Ohio, formerly of West Homestead, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026. Born on May 20, 1937 in West Homestead, she moved with her family to the Amherst/Lorain, Ohio area in 1968. Anna Mae served as Secretary to the Superintendent of Amherst Schools for more than 25 years before retiring.

She was a resilient woman known for her warm smile, deep love for her family, and remarkable sense of adventure. Anna Mae traveled extensively, visiting all 50 states, more than 35 countries, and all seven continents, with her final journey taking her to Antarctica. She cherished time with her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, faithfully supporting their activities, and for over 30 years she wintered in Las Vegas with close friends she met there each year. A gifted storyteller, she authored and published a suspense novel at the age of 86.

Anna Mae was a former member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church of the St. Thomas the Apostle Parish in Homestead, the AMVETS #47 Ladies Auxiliary in Lorain, and the Amherst Community Choir. She will be remembered above all for her vibrant spirit and the stories she so generously shared.

She is survived by her children, Sharon Crowle, Donald (Mary) Magnes, and Michael Magnes; grandchildren, Nicole (Javari) Neal, Devin (Joseph) Fraterrigo, and Zachary (Addie) Crowle; great-grandchildren, Ava, Lei-Lani, Javari, Jr., and Aurora; her sister, Josephine (the late William) Stevens; and several beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul R. “Pittsburgh Paul” Magnes in 2006; her son-in-law, David Crowle; her parents, Michael and Rose Mary (Scalise) Rizzo; and her sisters, Philomena (the late Thomas) Noll, Rose Marie Rizzo, and Rose Marie Burris.
