Anna Avery, 73, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2026, at CVPH in Plattsburgh with her loving family by her side.Anna was born on March 6, 1953, in Malone, NY to Donald and Edith Barney.She graduated from Franklin Academy High School in 1971. She started her career with Head Start as an Aide, then a Teacher and finishing as a Cook and Nutrition teacher for a total of 41 years. Her favorite part was any time spent with the children. After retiring she spent several years volunteering at the BMCS library so she could continue to work with children.Anna was married to the love of her life Joel Avery on August 18, 1973, at St. Augustine's Church in North Bangor. They have one Son, Nicholas and a chosen Daughter, Faith Graham.Anna is predeceased by her parents, Donald and Edith and a chosen Son-in-Law, Tom Graham and Brother-in-Law, Maurice Potter.She is survived by her loving Husband, Joel, her Son, Nicholas and fiancée, Julee Hooker, her chosen Daughter, Faith Graham and her girls, Charlotte, Gwendolyne and Penelope Graham who she loved dearly. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Ernie Barney and Dawn, Ray Barney and Patti, Carl Barney and Beth. Her sister, Madonna and friend, Gary Lucy and sisters and brothers-in-law, Lynn Potter-Damon and Steve, Mary Ellen McKane and David, Joanne Monette and Lee.Anna was active in her church of St. Augustine's and a very active member of the Brushton-Moira Community Memorial Garden. She loved quilting and especially quilt fabric shopping with her sisters. She was part of a quilting group at her home for many years. She and Joel were avid flower gardeners and loved showing people around their extensive flower gardens. They were even featured in HGL magazine. One year they were part of the Massena Garden tour. They also hosted a group of seniors from the St Regis Falls Senior Center to tour the gardens. They grow many of their own flowers, but the highlight of spring was a shopping trip to all the greenhouses and coming back with the car bursting with more plants than they had room for.Anna very much-loved time with all her family and hosted many parties that filled her home with good food and much laughter. She mostly loved time spent with her husband Joel. It didn't matter what they were doing, most of the time they did it together for 52 years. A favorite pastime was sitting together on the recliner watching the birds and wildlife in the back yard.To honor Anna's wishes there will be no wake. Friends are welcome to join the family for a funeral Mass at St. Augustine's Church in North Bangor at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 28. There will be a celebration of life luncheon at the parish hall following the service.
