Anna Kapczak

Anna Kapczak of Glen Spey, New York, died on March 11, 2026 at her home. She was 89.

Born on December 18, 1936 in Korchmine, Ukraine, Anna was the daughter of the late Theodore Samilo and the late Olga Bardega Samilo. A proud Ukrainian immigrant, she came to the United States and married her loving husband, John Kapczak, on May 8, 1955 in Hempstead, Long Island. The couple shared 57 years of marriage until John’s passing in 2012.

Anna was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who placed her family above all else. She cherished the quiet peace of her home in Glen Spey and found deep joy in baking for those she loved. She and John especially treasured dancing together, and their enduring love and companionship served as an inspiration to everyone around them.

She is survived by her three daughters, Annie Caputo and her husband Paul, Orysia Lyons and her husband Doug, and Kathryn Penafiel and her husband Pat; her brothers, John Samilo and Mike Samilo and his wife Marjorie; her grandchildren, Eric, Amanda, Nicholas, Christina, John, Kelly, Samantha, Emily, Jonathan and Luke; and her great-granddaughters, Harper and Felicity. She was predeceased by her beloved son, Steven Kapczak.
