Ann C. Wright
February 10, 1944— March 10, 2026
Braintree, MA
Ann C. Wright, age 82, born and raised in Dorchester and a longtime resident of Braintree before moving to Cumberland, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026. Born to James and Ethel Higgins in Boston, she was predeceased by her brothers, James and Stephen Higgins. Ann graduated from St. Gregory’s High School in Dorchester and enjoyed a successful 25-year career at the Boston Globe. Hired as a temporary keypunch operator during the Blizzard of 1978, she advanced through various departments and into management roles. After retiring, she remained close with her former coworkers and her bowling league teammates.
An independent and caring woman, Ann made friends easily throughout her life. She found joy in gardening, knitting, and reading, and stayed active by walking daily with her longtime neighbor, Susan Cullen. She was deeply involved with the Braintree Senior Center and, in her final years, formed meaningful connections with both residents and staff at Chapel Hill Senior Living.
Ann was the loving mother of John Wright and his wife Ellen of Braintree, Cheryl Peters and her husband Michael of North Attleboro, James (Jamie) Wright and his wife Kelly of Fairfield, Connecticut, and Christina (Tina) Spera Wright and her husband Benjamin of Mansfield. She was the devoted grandmother of Sean, Emily, and Caroline Peters, Jay Wright, Laurel and Bethany Spera, and JR and Colin Wright. She was the longtime fiancée of the late James Feeney and was cherished by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ann will be greatly missed by her lifelong friends Beverly Heeney and Dolly and David LeBrun.
