Anita Maria Wright
West Branch, IA
Anita Maria Wright, 70, of West Branch, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at University of Iowa Health Care in Iowa City.
Born on September 30, 1955, in Oakland, California, Anita was the daughter of Eulogio and Maria Murillo Iglesias, who had immigrated to the United States from Spain. She graduated from Arroyo High School in San Lorenzo, California, in 1973. After spending many years in secretarial and office roles in California, she moved to Illinois in 1997 and later made her home in eastern Iowa, living in Lost Nation, DeWitt, Tipton, and West Branch. She worked at APAC in Davenport and assisted her husband Doug and stepson Josh with the family business.
On January 19, 2008, Anita married Douglas Paul Wright. Their relationship began in March 2007 and grew into a devoted partnership. Anita was known for her deeply compassionate heart, kindness, empathy, and genuine concern for others. Her faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life; she read her Bible daily and freely offered encouragement and prayer to those around her. She had a special gift for creating personalized pictures and messages of hope, particularly through the Prayer Warriors Facebook group, where she designed custom images for many people, especially children battling cancer, bringing comfort to families across the country.
Anita found joy in life’s simple pleasures: game nights with board games and cards, movie nights, family meals, and gathering with loved ones. She loved trying new restaurants, playing Uno, and sharing photographs. She had a fondness for the color purple and cherished outings to McGregor, the Buffalo Bill Museum, and Antique Archaeology in LeClaire. She is survived by her husband, Douglas Wright of West Branch; sons Bryan (Whitney) Kempinski and Kevin Kempinski; stepson Joshua (Becky) Wright; several grandchildren; her brother Arthur Iglesias; and many members of Doug’s family, along with special friends and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Henry “Hank” Iglesias, sister-in-law Mary Ann Slach, and her former husband. Anita will be remembered for her gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and the compassion she offered so freely throughout her life.
