Anita Mae Jepson

Anita Mae Jepson, 85, of St. Paul, passed away on March 12, 2026, surrounded by her family at CHI Health Nebraska Heart Institute in Lincoln.

Born on April 29, 1940, in St. Paul to Floyd and Erma (Grossart) McLain, Anita spent part of her childhood in Washington state before returning to St. Paul, where she graduated from St. Paul High School in 1958. She attended Kearney State College for one year before marrying Larry G. Jepson on June 21, 1959, in St. Paul. The couple lived briefly in Grand Island before returning to St. Paul in 1966.

Anita worked for the Howard County Treasurer and Assessor before she and Larry purchased the Circle J Drive Inn in 1972, which they operated together until selling it in 1991. She later worked for Pamela M. Baker, CPA, in St. Paul, McDermott and Miller in Grand Island, and the City of St. Paul, retiring in 2007. Above all, her family was the center of her world. She is remembered as a devoted mother to her twin sons, Terry and Todd, and daughter Lori, and as a grandmother who rarely missed a grandchild’s sporting event.

A longtime member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Anita became an EMT with the St. Paul Rescue Squad in 1986. She took great pride in serving her community and volunteered for the baseball association and Howard County Medical Center. She is survived by her children and their spouses, seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, her sister Jan Skala of Lincoln, and brother-in-law Rod Creathbaum of Sierra Vista, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her husband Larry in 2021, her parents, and several siblings and in-laws.
