Preserve forever →Anita Frances "DeLavalla" Agosta
April 23, 1947— February 23, 2026
Redford, MI
Anita Frances Agosta (née DeLavalla) was born on April 23, 1947, to Lucy Cutrone and Victor DeLavalla. She passed away peacefully at home on February 23, 2026.
Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Anita briefly lived in New York with her mother as a teenager before returning to Michigan. While working at Mott’s in Detroit, she met William Agosta, and they married on June 10, 1966. Together they built a family and in 1972 purchased the home where she lived for the next 53 years.
Anita enjoyed dancing and singing, often turning holidays and mealtimes into joyful sing-alongs with her sister Priscilla Irvin. She had a deep love for gardening and being outdoors, yet happily traded her garden gloves for evenings spent watching wrestling and boxing. A dedicated factory worker at Detroit Rubber and Collins & Aikman, she formed many lasting friendships before embracing her favorite role as a full-time grandmother. She spent years caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sharing walks, bike rides, ice cream outings, games, school events, and heartfelt conversations.
Above all, Anita was devoted to her family. She remained closely connected with her daughters, grandchildren, and extended relatives, offering wisdom, presence, and unconditional love. She became a cherished mother figure to many, opening her heart and home to those in need, including stray pets that found their way to her doorstep. She cared selflessly for her parents in their final years and remained a dear friend to her ex-husband, supporting him through his own final days. Her strong faith, openness, and genuine spirit touched everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her daughters, Christina Agosta and AnnaRose (Jerry) Miller; grandchildren Kari (Nicholas) Elam, Michael Anderson, Jacob Miller, and Jackson Miller; great-grandchildren Aubrey Elam and Wyatt Elam; her sister Priscilla Irvin; nephew Scott Worthington; niece Michelle Bilancetti-Hamilton (Trevour); and great-nephew Tony Bilancetti.
