Anita Denise York

Anita Denise York, 61, of Davie County, passed away on March 10, 2026. Born on February 14, 1965, she was the daughter of Arthur Jesse York and Peggy Davis York. Anita will be remembered for her warm heart, strong faith, and the quiet joy she found in life’s simple pleasures. A devoted fan of the North Carolina Tar Heels and the Atlanta Braves, she rarely missed a game. She cherished vacations, collecting cookbooks and Donald Duck memorabilia, watching her nephew Jackson play ball, and sharing her musical gift by playing the piano for others.

A faithful Christian, Anita attended Woodland Baptist Church when her health allowed. For 36 years she served as a dedicated nurse at Yadkin Nursing Center, offering compassion and kindness to every resident in her care. Above all, she was a loving and devoted daughter who treasured her mother, Peggy, and was always willing to help her in any way she could.

She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Jesse York; maternal grandparents, Genie and Etta Davis; and paternal grandparents, Henry and Magdaline York. Anita is survived by her mother, Peggy Davis York; brother, Shannon York; special nephew, Jackson Levi York; sister-in-law, Emily York; special friend, Crystal Watkins; and several special cousins.
