November 14, 1932— March 9, 2026
Derry, NH
Angeliki Kanellos, 93, passed away from natural causes in South Carolina, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on November 14, 1932, in Dasilo, Grevena, Greece, she was the daughter of Nikos and Paraskevoula Kiakas and was raised in Thessaloniki. In 1956 she immigrated to the United States, settling first in Manchester, New Hampshire, where she lived until 1979, before making her home in Derry until 2018.
She was married to her beloved husband, Demetrios “Jimmy” Kanellos, for 54 years until his passing on May 8, 2016. During her working years, Angeliki was employed at several local businesses, including Crystal Laundry, Foster Grant, Pandora, Klev-Bro Shoe, and Treasure Masters. She was a longtime member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church.
In 2018, she moved to South Carolina to escape the long New England winters and spent her final years enjoying the sunshine. She is survived by her daughter, Catherine Carr and her husband Brian of Concord, New Hampshire; her son, John D. Kanellos and his wife Sheri of Conway, South Carolina; grandchildren Alexis Krafka and her husband Nick, Angelina Kanellos, and Demetrios Kanellos, who passed away on June 26, 2023; and great-grandchildren Arianna and Spencer, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Christos Kiakas, and her sister, Ifegenia Kalaitzidis.
Angeliki found great joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved gardening and cooking for her family, scenic drives to the White Mountains, visits to Gloucester, Massachusetts, and trips along the seacoast from New Hampshire to Maine. She especially cherished fried clams, Sunday picnics at Massabesic Lake, and quiet days at her home in Derry surrounded by family and her grandchildren. Her warmth, deep love of family, and appreciation for life’s small joys will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
