Angie was born on December 25, 1951, bringing the gift of her presence into the world on a Christmas Day in Centralia, Illinois, the daughter of Melvin Johnson and Kathleen (Dickinson) Johnson.Angie devoted her life to her family, friends, and the community she held dear. She enjoyed a long career as a beautician, working for several years and later sharing her talents at Heritage Woods, where she lovingly styled hair for her clients. Angie's passion for beauty extended into her personal life, where she was known for her exceptional skills in sewing, crocheting, and crafting. Her creations were not just hobbies but gifts of love that she shared generously with those around her.Angie's family was her greatest pride and joy. She is survived by her beloved son, Kevin Thompson, and his wife Ashley, of Mt. Vernon. Her heart overflowed with love for her two treasured grandchildren, Declan and Rayna Thompson, also of Mt. Vernon. Angie is also survived by her brother, Don Johnson, and his wife Sandy of Irvington; her sisters, Ruth Ann Booth of Centralia and Susan St. Peters and husband Stan of Centralia; sister-in-law, Myra "Lynn" Johnson of Centralia; as well as several nieces and nephews who will all dearly miss her presence.She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Dannie Johnson.A Celebration of Angie's life will take place at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois, on Monday, March 9, 2026, at 1:00 PM, with Pastor Claude Howell officiating. Following the service, Angie will be laid to rest at Elmwood Cemetery in Centralia. Friends and family are invited to gather for visitation at the funeral home on Monday from 11:00 AM until the start of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family gratefully requests that memorial donations be made to Trinity Lutheran School in Centralia.
