June 11, 1973— March 5, 2026
Clendenin, WV
Angela Born, 52, of Clendenin, passed away unexpectedly on March 5, 2026. Born in South Charleston, West Virginia on June 11, 1973, she was the daughter of William and Cecilia McFarland. Angie grew up in St. Albans with her younger sister and brother, riding bikes and playing along the Coal River. From an early age, her strong personality and natural leadership shone through her involvement in school organizations and clubs at Hayes Junior High and St. Albans High School, where she formed many lasting friendships.
After graduating from West Virginia Wesleyan in 1995, Angie moved to St. Louis, Missouri to pursue a master’s degree in dietetics and made more lifelong friends. It was there that she surrendered her life to Jesus and began a lifelong journey of following Him. In 2001, she married her husband John, and together they built a family rooted in their shared faith. Known for her warm hospitality, Angie welcomed others into her home with home-cooked meals and an ability to make everyone feel at ease.
In 2015, her love for waterfalls, hills, and trails drew her back to West Virginia. Answering a call to serve her community, Angie and John established a strawberry farm to provide fresh produce to the Clendenin and Charleston area. She also opened Country Road House and Berries, a bed and breakfast where she served delicious breakfasts and hosted thousands of guests. In addition to her work as a farmer, innkeeper, and her position at Valley Vital Care, Angie was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, and sister who deeply valued her relationships.
Outgoing and full of life, Angie had a remarkable gift for connecting with others on a deep level, leading to rich and meaningful conversations. She loved good food, dancing, walking West Virginia trails, and rejoicing in God’s creation. Her faith was vibrant and real; she saw God’s purposes in every moment and found His good plans even in difficult times. Her encouragement was life-giving, her enthusiasm inspiring, her laugh contagious, and her love for her Savior evident in all she did. She often spoke of living “for the generations,” and she has left a lasting legacy of deep love for the Lord and for people. She will be greatly missed.
Angela is survived by her husband of 24 years, John Born; her children, Brooke Buente, JD, William, Samuel, Matthew, and Audree Born; her parents, William and Cecilia McFarland (Jarrett); her siblings, Cara Hoover (Patrick) and Keith McFarland (Laura Beth); and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and extended family and friends.
