Angel L. Nieves

Angel L. Nieves, age 37, of New Bedford, Massachusetts, passed away tragically on Thursday, March 5, 2026, while fishing. Born on June 27, 1988, in New Bedford, he was the cherished son of Martha Figueroa and the late Angel A. Nieves. A dedicated fisherman, Angel held a deep respect and love for the sea that he shared generously with others. He found joy in the outdoors, whether fishing, camping, or simply appreciating nature’s beauty, and he possessed a genuine talent for cooking. Above all, his profound love for God inspired and touched everyone who knew him. Though his time was far too brief, the love and laughter he brought to those around him will remain in their hearts forever.

Angel is survived by his devoted mother, Martha Figueroa, and stepfather, Jose Torres. He leaves behind his beloved siblings, Jose Nieves, Jonathan Nieves, and Makayla Nieves and her partner Jeffrey Melo; his loving children, Kaylani Nieves, Talia Nieves, Juliana Nieves, and Adrian Nieves; and his fiancée, Danielle Jeffreys. He will also be deeply missed by his niece, Catia Melo, his nephews, Noah Melo and Mateo Nieves, multiple step-siblings, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Angel A. Nieves, and his grandparents, Carlos and Rosalie Figueroa, and Ramon and Justina Marquez Nieves.
