Andrew Mrusko
August 29, 1951— March 4, 2026
Lewisburg, PA
Andrew (Andy) Mrusko, 74, of Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2026. Born on August 29, 1951, in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of Andrew and Anna Mrusko and brother of Bonnie (Mrusko) Meyers.
Andy spent more than 25 years at the University of Maryland as Director of Marketing for the Stamp Student Union. He thrived on collaborating with student groups and helping bring their clubs and ideas to life across campus. After retiring, he fulfilled a longtime dream by settling in Lewisburg, where he quickly became a familiar and beloved presence downtown. Neighbors and shop owners came to know him through his daily walks, and each winter he shared his large, well-loved backyard ferns by placing them in storefronts for the season.
He had a rare gift for creating an atmosphere of love and belonging. Music, most often The Beatles, played constantly in his home, usually with the lights low and martinis and bar snacks at the ready for anyone who stopped by. Friends and family recall evenings on his patio with a boombox in one hand and a Beatles cooler full of Natty Lights in the other, filled with stories, music, and laughter. Andy was known for his quick, sometimes perfectly inappropriate humor, his ability to make strangers feel like family, and his gentle daily rituals: dog treats tucked in his pockets for neighborhood pups, bowls of milk left out for the local cat, and long walks that often ended with the addition of a painted rock to his growing collection of small treasures.
A lifelong lover of music and baseball, Andy could recall details like the order numbers of classic vinyl from his record store days, and his Beatles collection was legendary. He enjoyed vodka martinis, classic films, and sitting at the bar at M.R. Ducks in Ocean City, Maryland. Above all, he adored his children. He is survived by his son Charlie Mrusko; daughter Emily (Mrusko) Gorski and son-in-law Nick Gorski; daughter-in-law Casey (Condon) Mrusko; his former wife and lifelong friend, Cathleen (Flynn) Stenglein; his sister Bonnie (Mrusko) Meyers; and brother-in-law Donnie Meyers. His family will remember his sharp wit, his quiet understanding, and the way he made every gathering feel just a little more special.
Andy will be remembered for his humor, kindness, and unmistakable spirit. He will be deeply missed.
