Andrew J. Proulx

January 22, 1938 March 8, 2026

Manchester, NH

Andrew J. Proulx, 88, of Manchester, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, March 8, 2026. Born in Manchester, New Hampshire, on January 22, 1938, to Arthur Proulx and Germaine Therrien, he proudly served in the New Hampshire National Guard during the late 1950s. Andrew began his career at the J.F. McElwain Shoe Factory in the Manchester mills and later worked for many years as a custodian for the City of Manchester. Even in retirement, he remained dedicated to helping others, volunteering as a driver for Meals on Wheels until the age of 81.

Known for his gentle nature and deep care for family and neighbors, Andrew had a genuine gift for friendship and was always ready to lend a helping hand. He took great pride in maintaining a beautiful yard, enjoyed gardening, and found quiet pleasure in caring for his plants. Above all, he cherished time with his family, whether playing cards, sharing stories, or making others laugh with one of his well-timed jokes. A neighbor remembered him fondly, noting that he was always willing to help and carried such a positive attitude.

Andrew was predeceased by his beloved wife, Irene, with whom he shared 53 years of marriage, and later by his wife Rita, with whom he shared five years. He was also predeceased by his parents and his siblings, Arthur and Lucille.

He is survived by his sister, Irene Proulx, and brother, Raymond Proulx; his five children, Regina Bellemore, Suzanne Eastman, Roger Proulx, Kathy Hebert, and Lori Greene; along with many grandchildren and several godchildren who held a special place in his heart.
